About this item
A Derby shell shaped dessert serving dish painted in underglaze blue, iron red enamel and gilt in what is known as the imari based King's pattern. Red painted mark, c.1815.
It measures 24cm (9 1/2") by 25cm (9 3/4") wide and 4.5cm (2 3/4") high.
In very good condition with no damage or repair. The surface is finely crazed. There is some kiln dust spotting on the underside of the rim and a glaze fault to the front to the white and gilt area at the bottom. Minor surface wear, mainly just a bit of rubbing to the gilt on the white reserved section and fractional discolouration under the crazing in the two small deep grooves at the far sides.
