About this item
Pretty English porcelain coffee can, c.1800 of slightly tapered form, spiral fluted with 24 flutes with double ribs in between. Loop handle with inner spur. Decorated with gilded bands around the foot and rim and a frieze framed in gold of red daisy flowers with gold leaves.
Unmarked but with many characteristics of Chamberlain Worcester. It also appears to the be the same as an unidentified can in Berthoud's Compendium Of British Cups plate 117 where the can illustrated has a known Flight & Barr Worcester pattern.
it measures 6.8cm (2 11/16") rim to rim, 9.2cm (3 5/8") rim to handle and 6.3cm (2 7/16") high.
ondition is very good with no damage or restoration. A bit of surface wear to the gilding mainly to the band around the rim.
