About this item
A beautifully hand-painted cider or ale mug, decorated with a floral design and bright gilt banding. The mug is made of porcelain and was probably made in the Staffordshire area, but it bears no maker's marks. The sides are painted with bouquets of wild and garden flowers including roses, fuschia, clover, convolvulus, broom and heather. In the middle are the original owner's initials, JC, and the year 1867 in bright gilt. The beautifully moulded handle is also embellished with gilt.
The mug is in good original condition. There is a small manufacturing fault to the top of the handle.
