AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE PLATE
MOTHER HUBBARD ~ GIRL BLOWING BUBBLES
Old Hall Pottery
Hanley, Staffordshire England c. 1885
This large earthenware Aesthetic Movement plate measures 10 ½” in diameter, transfer printed in brown with amazing under glaze hand painting in blue, green, pink and yellow with a gilt rim.

A central cartouche has a young girl in period dress blowing bubbles, with a well in behind her, all surrounded an oversized exotic leafy Blueberries. The design may be attributed to Christopher Dresser, who worked for the maker, Old Hall pottery, during the 1880’s, the period in which the plate was produced .
