About this item
A sweet early 19th century Derby porcelain figure group of a cow and calf, decorated in gilt on white. Standing on an oval naturalistic modelled base with gilt band. The calf is lying down beside its mother. Red painted mark, c.1830.
It measures 15cm (5 7/8") high, 10cm (3 7/8") long and 7cm (2 3/4") deep.
Condition is good; the bocage has clearly lost most of its branches but the main figure group is fine bar some small chips to the cow's ears. I believe the horns are original but appear to have been re-gilded. Some handling wear to the gilding in places and some kiln dust spotting around the base and tail.
