About this item
AESTHETIC MOVEMENT TRANSFERWARE PLATE
INDUS PATTERN
Ridgways Potteries
Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire England c. 1885
This very desirable and sought after large Victorian aesthetic 10 5/8 " plate is transfer printed in dark blue. The best looking Indus we have seen.
The pattern features some of the most outrageous looking birds the potteries artist could imagine including exotic hummingbirds. A rim of wildly tropical flowers with hummingbirds. The well of the plate has an aquatic scene with two most unusual and exotic birds standing beneath tropical fruit. A marvel of the imagination. This is as good as it gets!
The piece is marked on the underside with the registration mark, the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Ridgways, a pottery maker working in Stoke on Trent in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.
The piece is in great condition, clean shiny and bright. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs.
