About this item
Fabulous large Chamberlain's porcelain punch bowl with a rich mazarine blue ground with large circular central reserve very finely painted with flowers in a botanical style. Ornate gilt design in a border around the reserve and also around the outside of the bowl and with a gilt dentil rim. Similarly decorated to earlier c.1770 Worcester dessert porcelains. Marked to the base "Chamberlain's Worcester & 155 New Bond Street London. Royal Porcelain Manufacturers" in a foliate frame with a crown on top, c.1816-1820.
It measures 28.8cm (11 3/8") wide and 11.5cm (4 1/2") high.
Condition is very good with no damage, repair or restoration. Minor wear to the gilding on the rim and to the gilt ring around the main reserve. Several small firing faults in the centre of the bowl where the glaze has blown out in firing which have been well disguised with the enamel floral decoration. Very light surface wear, a small scratch to the underside of the base and the mark is a little worn.
