About this item
A nice large Staffordshire pearlware figure of Diana the huntress, c.1820, decorated in earthy coloured enamels in ochre, red, orange, grey and black. She is stood on a rocky mound set on a square socle base with red enamel band. Impressed W mark to the base.
She measures 29.2cm (11 1/2") high and 11cm (4 3/8") wide across the base.
Condition is very good: her little crown has been reattached and professionally touched in and there is a small loss at the tip of one side. A small mark to the back of her left hand which looks like blown glaze during firing. I have checked the bow carefully and it is fine. There is one corner of the base with restoration spray but I can't tell what has happened, probably just filling a chip. Some slight fritting to the glaze at the edge of her cloak and minor enamel losses, mainly to the black and base / trunk.
