About this item
Unusual Liverpool porcelain blue and white cream boat attributed to Seth Pennington, c.1780-85. Formed as a low "Chelsea" ewer 8 lobed shape with spiral acanthus moulding and distinctive shaped handle. Printed with the Fenced Garden pattern.
The shape is illustrated and described in detail in Liverpool Porcelain by Watney, plate 410 and page 109, and the pattern illustrated in plate 409.
It measures 12cm (4 3/4") long, 6.5cm (2 1/2" wide and 6.5cm (2 5/8") high.
Condition is excellent with no damage or restoration and very light surface wear. The printing is a bit blurred, there is a small underglaze nibble to the rim and a few small sections of kiln dust spots.
