    About this item

Lovely Lowestoft chestnut basket in the pine cone pattern dating from c.1785. Pierced sides in a lattice pattern with applied flowers on the crosses and rope twist handles with further moulded flowers around the terminals.

    It measures 7 1/4" (18.5cm) by 6 3/4" (17cm) wide and 3 3/8" (8.5cm) high.

Condition is good: there is a hairline down one side that runs part way under the base but this is fully stable and a very little damage to some of the flowers around the handles, and slight associated discolouration to the exposed clay. A few tiny nibbles to the other flowers. No restoration and very nice bright, crisp colour.
