About this item
A quirky collection of three miniature bathroom fixtures dating to between the 1920s and 1960s. At least two of these are salesman's samples, while one may be a miniature for a doll. The wash basin was made by Edward Johns & Co Ltd of Staffordshire under their Armitage Ware tradename, and dates to approximately the 1920s. It is marked 'Armitage Ware' in the basin, while the back bears the printed Johns backstamp.
The pale pink toilet does not bear a maker's name and dates to around the 1950s/60s. The plain white toilet could be a sample piece or for a doll. It dates to around the 1930s.
The sample pieces are made to scale and out of the same glazed porcelain as the full-size models. These scale models would have been carried by salesmen to showcase their company's products without having to take a full-size version out to customers.
These pieces would make an interesting and amusing display in a bathroom or loo.
The measurements given are for the wash basin.
