A very sweet Minton porcelain pug lying on a tasselled cushion, c.1831-1840. White glazed with a blue enamel collar and fine details to the face, gilt accents to the collar an cushion trim and tassels.
Provenance: Dennis G. Rice collection and illustrated in Dogs In English Porcelain Of The 19th Century, Dennis G. Rice, colour plate 34.
It measures 10.8cm (4 1/4") long, 6.4cm (2 1/2") wide and 6.1cm (2 3/8") high.
Condition very good. There is some professional restoration to the tail and touched up into the rump and a couple of tiny nicks in the glaze at the base of the cushion. Some minor handling wear to the gilt in places.
