    About this item

Very pretty large lobed dessert bowl / deep dish by Worcester, Barr, Flight & Barr period, c.1810. Pale pink enamelled ground with a large shaped reserve mirroring the shape of the rim. A hand-painted scene of Aberystwyth Castle, named on the reverse "Aberystwith Castle", is framed with fine gilded detail and a gilt border and further gilt band inside the gilt dentil rim. Marked to the reverse with impressed and printed marks.

    It measures 28.3cm (11 1/8") by 20.2cm (7 7/8") wide and 4.5cm (1 3/4") high.

Condition is good; it has had a repair to a section near the bottom of the dish. This has been done close to invisibly on the front but there is a larger area of fine evening spray on the reverse, far larger than the area of repair. Otherwise no damage or other issues, surface wear is light, a few very tiny nicks to the enamelled landscape and a very little wear to the pink enamel on the high points of the fluting near the centre. The gilding is good.
