BROWN TRANSFERWARE STAFFORDSHIRE PLATES ~ CANTERBURY 1885
AESTHETIC MOVEMENT PERIOD
BROWN TRANSFERWARE PLATES
CANTERBURY PATTERN
James Beech, Swan Bank Works Pottery
Tunstall, Staffordshire England ~ c. 1883
These Victorian aesthetic 9 1/2 " supper plates are transfer printed in very dark brown. One of my favorite patterns, take a close look and you will see why.
The pattern features a rim with geometric designs. The center of the plate is very busy with a honeycomb of wildly exotic flowers and whimsies. One cartouche of tropical flowers and another with a recumbent fully antlered Deer resting at the water's edge. By far, one of the best and rarest aesthetic pattern especially in this condition.
Condition is great. 4 available
