About this item
VERY LARGE BROWN TRANSFERWARE VICTORIAN FISH PLATTER
IDEAL Pattern
W. H. Grindley and Co. Potteries
Tunstall, Staffordshire England ~ 1883
This Victorian aesthetic movement 22 1/8 " long x 10 1/2 " wide is transfer printed in dark brown. Largest Victorian ironstone platter we have seen
The pattern features rich and wildly exotic Japanesque geometric designs with a plethora of flowers and foliage all around the rim. The central image surrounded by cattail flowers is of a pair of Songbirds flying over a stream in a landscape setting. The designs are the height of the aesthetic movement. A spectacular pattern.
Great condition, a small chip off the back rim.
