About this item
A very nice early 19th century bone china dessert plate by Job Ridgway of the Cauldon Place China Works, c.1808-1810. A shaped edge with loop moulded sprigging. Finely hand painted with a central topographical scene of a couple walking in a country landscape with church ruins and mountains in the background. A rich mazarine blue ground around the edge reserving the moulded sprigging and daisy flowers shapes filled with pale lemon enamel and gilded flowers. Gilt dots and crescents also richly decorate the blue ground and fine gilt leaves scattered around the shaped white central reserve framing the main scene. Marked with pattern number 941 in red script.
It measures 21.5cm (8 1/2") wide and just over 2.5cm (1") high.
Condition is very good with no damage or restoration and minor surface wear only.
