About this item
Attractive regency period Spode porcelain pen tray beautifully decorated in the Japan pattern in bold imari colours in mazarine blue, iron red and green with finely detailed gilded embellishment with a thick gilded rim. Set on 4 ball and claw moulded feet with blue balls and gilded claws.
Marked to the base with pattern number 1645 and fraction of SPODE mark. The pattern is a later variation of pattern 967.
It measures 8 1/2" (22cm) long, 3 1/2" (9cm) wide and 2 1/2" (6.5cm) high.
Condition is very good with no damage or restoration. Light surface wear; a little rubbing to the gilding on the rim at the pointed end. There are some gilt drips from one of the claws down onto the blue ball on one foot so probably re-gilded but it fully matches in tone to the rest.
