About this item
A very sweet small Worcester basket printed with the pine cone pattern. Oval in shape with pierced walls with small daisy flowers applied at the intersections on the outside. Rope twist handles with flowers, leaves and berries at the terminals. Unmarked, c.1770.
Reference: Worcester Blue & White Porcelain 1751-1790, Branyan, French & Sandon, section II.C.II
It measures 17.8cm (7") by 15cm (5 7/8") wide and 7.2cm (2 7/8") high.
Condition is very good with no body damage or restoration. At either end, there are some minor losses to the leaves and petals at the handle terminals. There are 3 flowers absent from the top row on the outside walls but they are clearly missing from manufacture as these areas are fully overglazed. There is a small erroneous bit of clay stuck on the inside on the base. Minimal handling wear.
