About this item
A good Staffordshire pearlware pottery mug well modelled with a Bacchus mask with pointed ears and small horns. Decorated in prattware enamels of brown, ochre, green and dark blue and the rim and the edge of the wide strap handle edged in blue also. Unmarked, early 19th century.
It measures 10.2cm (4") high, 14.5cm (5 3/4") from to back and 8.3cm (3 1/4") wide.
Condition is good; there is a small chip to the back just below the rim to the side of the handle, 2 small glaze scuffs and a little discolouration to the handle and under the base. No repairs or restoration and the enamels are bright with only light handling wear.
