About this item
A fabulous large and very rare Minton porcelain figure of "Arabia" c.1848. Superb modelling and decoration as always with Minton, an Eastern lady finely dressed in exotic robes and jewels standing beside a a craggy rock on which she rests a water ewer. Rich enamels and gilding and some very delicate porcelain lacework along the hem of her dress and around the neck line and arm. Model number 137 in the Minton pattern book. Green ermine mark painted to the base.
Reference: this is the actual example illustrated in "Minton Pottery & Porcelain Of The First Period" by Godden, colour plate XII, provenance The Godden Collection, Godden Of Worthing Ltd.
She measures 26.8cm (10 1/2") high and 16.5cm (6 1/2) by 13.2cm (5 1/4") across the base.
In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration to the figure itself. The delicate lacework always has some damage understandably but a good proportion remains. Minimal handling wear.
