    About this item

Very pretty Flight Barr & Barr period Worcester ring handled coffee can and saucer with an unusual pseudo-oriental pattern seeming to combine both Japanese and Chinese elements in a vivid kakiemon style palette of polychrome enamels. The left side is dominated by large flamboyant Japanese style flowers and to the right is a small hut with straw roof, simple garden fence and flag pole from which ripples a blue flag. The hut is sat under a flowering willow tree and set on a large stylised ochre coloured rock with a short section of ornate fencing to the side. The whole is picked out with gilded highlights and both pieces with gilded rims and feathered detail up the handle.

Both with impressed mark of BFB under a crown, c.1810.

    The cup measures 6.5cm (2 1/2") high, 6.5cm (2 1/2") rim to rim and 9cm (3 1/2") rim to handle. The saucer measures 14cm (5 1/2") wide and 2.5cm (1") high.

Both pieces in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Surface wear is very light.
