A Pair of Ebony & Bone Inlaid Elephant-Shape Bookends

16.6 cm high x 20 cm long x 10.5 cm wide
The bookends fashioned in the form of elephants and books. Made from ebony with bone inlay in what was then the British colony of Ceylon. The little bone inlay studs, set into the wood with the word 'Ceylon', an outline map of the island and a crown. The elephants' tusks and nails also carved from bone. One bookend with a small secret compartment.
A delightful pair of bookends.
