This is a vintage neo-classical urn. A Continental, Bakelite decorative ornament in Grand Tour taste, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1930.

Striking forms, with serpentine flourishes throughout Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order Ornate upper presents dark tonality with light weathering Raised upon a bold Bakelite socle, with warm cream hues Strong neo-classical taste evident throughout Ornate domed lid topped with a charming acorn finial Foliate decor accentuates the lower section, with beading to the lid edge Imposing lion head mask projects from the front and rear fascia, upon a scrolled relief Of expressive form, the pair of sinuous handles terminate in bird head masks In relief, an Acanthus leaf bulb decorates the support with a gadrooned circumference The tactile socle finished in a naive, marble effect pattern Dressed to the base with a protective velvet pad in black
