This is an antique chest of drawers. An English, walnut bedroom cabinet with Georgian Revival taste, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Appealing example of Georgian revival bedroom furniture.
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order.
Select walnut a delight of fine grain interest.
Rich caramel hues radiate beneath the wax polish finish.
Arranged as a narrow pair over two full width drawers with inset brass lined locks — keys absent.
Each fascia with central burr walnut frieze with opposing straight grain walnut cross banding.
Brass drop handles with decorative foliate backplates show Art Nouveau overtones.
Robust oak drawer boxes crafted with quality dovetail joints.
Fascinating and unusual shallow sarcophagus top.
Proportions ideal for the foot of a bed or to the side of the room.
Raised on broad bun feet beneath a tiered lower apron.
