This is an antique chest on stand. An English, flame mahogany lowboy chest of drawers, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1870.
Elegant chest of drawers with superb figuring and colour.
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order.
Flame mahogany presents fine grain interest beneath a wax polish finish.
Deep russet hues with the characteristic lighter caramel flame.
Distinctive lowboy form with narrow body above pronounced knees.
Useful pair of drawers graduated and of full width, dressed with brass lock escutcheons — key absent.
Brass drop handles over decorated backplates, engraved with foliate motif.
Standing upon four serpentine cabriole legs, with broad, carved knees and terminating in ball and claw feet.
This is an attractive antique chest on stand, graced with flame mahogany stocks and appealing craftsmanship. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
