A late 17th century Continental, possibly Italian walnut cassone of exceptional patina (colour) - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
The piece has a plain front with a steel escutcheon plate, hinges & corner brackets, all original.
There is a moulded & shaped frieze to the base leading to a sleigh foot.
It has suffered from worm in the past, but this has been treated.
The tips of the left sleigh foot has had some repair, probably due to rot and worm damage.
