About this item
An 18th century (circa 1730) French Régence rosewood serpentine commode with marble top - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
This commode consists of a finely figured original Bréche marble top with moulded edge and serpentine shaped front edge leading down to applied gilt mounts to either side.
This leads down to two short over two long drawers, all oak lined, the fronts having superb rosewood quarter veneer panels with tulip banding, rosewood banding and outer shaped crossbanded edge, all with original gilt handles and escutcheons.
This leads down to a shaped rail below with applied gilt mount to the centre and gilt mounts to the front feet, the sides consist of a quarter veneered rosewood panel with tulipwood banding.
This piece is in excellent condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home or collection.
