Outstanding 'Sea Captains' travelling chest of drawers with internal sliding desk, made in 19th Century British India of Camphorwood. This rare and wonderful piece of Victorian 'Campaign' furniture was made with an upper and lower section so that it could be more easily carried either on and off a ship or on a military campaign. The sweet odour of camphorwood was specially used to repel insects. With original inlaid brass handles, drawer locks and banding.
Measures 48" tall x 39" wide x 23" deep. In excellent condition. Circa 1850 - 1880.
