About this item
This is a large antique blanket coffer. An English, oak chest or window seat with Gothic revival taste, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.
Pleasingly presented in the Gothic manner and of great proportion. Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Select oak shows fine grain interest throughout. Rich caramel hues beam beneath a wax polish finish.
Generous in width, ideally suited as a window seat. Three panel lid opens to reveal the two chamber interior. Inset lock beneath the lid edge — untested, key absent. Field panel carvings adorn the front fascia with alternating pattern. Raised upon four square legs with tapering plinth feet.
This is a superb antique blanket coffer, with generous proportion and attractive finish. Of great height and width for occasional use beneath a large window or storage for the living room. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
