This is a large antique silver chest. A Scottish, oak and iron bound heavy trunk, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.
Appealing late Victorian chest with superior proportion
Displays a desirable aged patina and wonderfully clean interior
Oak shows fine grain interest and wisps of medullary rays
Graced with deep caramel and russet hues throughout
Stout lid heavily strapped with iron brace and bound corners
Bound to shoulders by four iron plates for supreme strength
Substantial drop handles mounted to shaped backplates
Engraved brass plaque for a Mr John Dalziel W.S of Edinburgh
Rides upon a set of four brass castors
This is a superb antique silver chest or coffer, of generous proportion and attractive appearance. Fantastic piece of storage furniture or coffee table. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
