Painted Vintage Damchiya Dowry Chest

Hailing from Gujarat, India, this elaborate chest, known as a Damchiya, was traditionally filled with precious items such as gold jewellery and silk fabric, and gifted to the groom's family as a dowry by the bride's family. Its intricate carvings and once bright paint add to its charm, while the faded colors and mirrored glass insets give it a unique visual appeal. Though originally used to store valuables, these distinctive pieces now serve as wonderful focal points and functional storage solutions in any living space.
