A rare 19th Century American Boston Childs rocking chair. A charming fruitwood "Boston" Childs rocking chair with lovely original painted detail to the frame and having a cane seat, turned supports and curved rockers. In wonderful original condition, superb patination to the arms, the cane seat has been replaced at some time. American circa 1880-1900
From 1830-1890 the Boston rocker was a standard American rocking chair and its popularity spread across the USA and these chairs were exported widely to England
