Early 20th Century Round Oak Mirror — Original Bevelled Foxed Plate c.1930
A charming early 20th-century round oak mirror, circa 1930, retaining its original bevelled mirror plate with attractive natural foxing. With its simple circular form and warm oak frame, it is a wonderfully versatile antique mirror for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Full Description
A very attractive early 20th-century round oak mirror, dating to circa 1930 and retaining its original bevelled mirror plate.
The simple circular frame is made from oak, with the warmth and natural grain of the timber providing an understated surround to the original glass. Its restrained design allows the quality of the materials and beautifully aged surface to take centre stage.
Importantly, the mirror retains its original bevelled mirror plate, which has developed areas of natural foxing and ageing over time. These subtle imperfections give the glass considerably more character than a modern replacement and contribute to the authentic appearance of the piece.
The combination of aged glass and warm oak gives the mirror an appealing decorative quality without being overly ornate. At 65.5 cm in diameter, it is also a particularly useful size, substantial enough to make an impact while remaining easy to position within a wide variety of spaces.
Its classic round form makes it particularly versatile. It would work beautifully as an antique hallway mirror, above a console table or chest of drawers, within a bathroom or bedroom, or incorporated into a contemporary interior where the aged oak and foxed glass can provide warmth and contrast.
A handsome and highly usable circa 1930 oak wall mirror, with the added desirability of its original bevelled and naturally foxed plate.
