A Fine And Unusual 18th Century Folk Art Coffer
A fine and unusual 18th Century triple panelled coffer decorated with folk art scenes. The triple panelled facade decorated with delightful figural scenes defined in shallow rectangular recesses the frieze with animals, birds and foliage flanked by rosette roundels. The fielded panels carved with a pair of deer with scrolling tails and antlers issuing tulip heads with faces to the centre. These flanked by huntsmen in frock coats & tricorn hats, with dogs amidst foliage, with similar carving to the muntins and stiles.
Some old restorations commiserate with age but overall condition is excellent.
