The Essentials

Three-piece Victorian purple malachite slag glass group Circa 1880s Pressed glass with purple, white and black marbling Good antique condition with light age wear and small edge nibbles Sowerby marked tumbler with Davidson attributed Shell and Coral bowl and jug

Description

This is a late Victorian group of purple malachite slag glass, made as small table glass in North East England. The tumbler gives the group a marked Sowerby piece, while the handled bowl and jug match Davidson’s Shell and Coral design.

The colour is worked through the glass, with dark purple, black and white moving differently across each piece. The bowl has the strongest moulding, with shell panels, coral handles and a beaded rim along the top edge.
