FC0149 ART NOUVEAU CAST IRON COMBINATION FIRE FOR RESTORATION
A reclaimed Art Nouveau cast iron combination fire that will require some restoration. The fire is of a good size for a bedroom and has a pretty design, typical of the era, with elegant flowers along the crossbar and the decorative smoke hood with a scrolled edge. The legs have recessed panels. The fire retains its original, pretty, front bars and it has a burning grill and concrete fire back. There are fixing lugs, one on either side under the mantel and on each side at the top of the feet.
The fire is in solid condition but is in need of some restoration. The front of the fire has wear, scratches, tarnish and surface rust and it will need to be stripped and refinished. We can strip, black and polish the front of the fire for an extra £150, please contact us for details and to let us know if you would like this service. The bottom corners of the front bars have been cut on either side, perhaps to fit with an ash pan, but it has been cut fairly neatly. The fire brick has some cracks but it is stable and solid. The back has surface rust as expected. Please see pictures for condition details.
The fire has a very pretty period appearance and is a nice example of Art Nouveau design. Once restored the fire will add great character to a fireplace.
