    About this item

A pretty, reclaimed, Victorian combination fire. The fire is well made with a lovely design and is of the ideal size for a bedroom or smaller reception room. The fire has an ornate smoke hood, in the "Brighton Pavilion" style, and the legs have an attractive column design. There is dentil moulding under the mantel and leaf designs at the top of the legs. The fire retains its original front bars and grill and there is a rosette design above the fire brick. The fire has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The fire has a registered design number on the back, RD 289386, dating the fire to1896. The fire is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of wear and some damage, as expected of antique items. There have been some repairs to the fixing lugs on both sides. The back edge of the mantel has been cut and there is damage to the right hand side of the mantel. The damage can be seen, especially to the back edge and there is a repair to the side where some iron has been added. Some further thin cracks can be seen on the mantel. The fire has some surface rust to the back. The fire brick has some knocks and marks. One foot has a crack. The iron has some knocks and some casting marks. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a very pretty example of Victorian design and it would add great period character to a fireplace.
