About this item
A reclaimed Edwardian cast iron combination fire, C.1910, for decorative purposes. The fire has a simple and elegant design with Adam style decoration along the crossbar, featuring swags, bows and a medallion. The fire has a slightly domed smoke hood with a pretty design and the body of the fire has a nice shape. The fire retains its front bars, fire brick and grill. The fire has two fixing lugs on each side, under the mantel and near the feet. There are some small tabs at the back of the mantel. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a good finish.
The fire is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected. The top flap is a wooden replacement, sprayed black, and therefore the fire is now only suited for decorative purposes. The front of the mantel has a small notch out of it. The iron has some casting marks and pitting. The fire brick has some knocks and chips out of it. There is a screw in the lug at the back of the mantel. The back of the fire has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a very pretty example of period design, it is of the ideal size for a bedroom and it would add great character to a room.
