About this item
A reclaimed Edwardian cast iron combination fire, C.1900. The fire has a simple and elegant design with a thin outer border with elegant bow crosses. There is a moulded border around the fire opening and the fire has a very nicely shaped smoke hood with an oval medallion. The fire retains its front bars, fire brick and grill. The fire has two fixing lugs, one on each side, under the mantel. There are some small tabs at the front of the feet. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a good finish.
The fire is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected. There are some casting marks and pitting, especially to the mantel and under the mantel. The mantel screws do not sit totally flush. There are some gaps between the top of the top flap and the fire. The back of the fire has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a nice example of period design, it is of the ideal size for a bedroom and its simple and classic design would suit many interiors.
