FS0288 VERY ELEGANT LARGE RECLAIMED EDWARDIAN CAST IRON FIRE SURROUND

An elegant, large, reclaimed cast iron fire surround dating to the Edwardian period. The surround is of the ideal size for a reception room and has a very ornate and interesting period design with heavy mouldings that run down the legs and under the mantel. The surround's cross bar has a beautiful design with a medallion in the centre, swags and scrolling, in relief. The fire surround has a large mantel. The cast iron has been blacked and polished and has a good finish. The fire surround has a fixing lug on each side, under the mantel, for fixing the surround to the wall.

The fire surround is in good antique condition with some signs of use and age, as expected. The iron has some small knocks, especially to the mantel edges. The iron has some scratches and there are some casting marks and pitting. The back has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is of an impressive size and could be paired with a wood burner or a fire basket. The fire surround is a fine example of Edwardian design and it would make a fantastic statement piece for a home.
