FC0230 A RECLAIMED VICTORIAN CAST IRON BEDROOM COMBINATION FIRE

An elegant, reclaimed, Victorian cast iron bedroom combination fire. The fire has a very nice appearance, typical of the era, with swags and medallions and a thin rope border above and below the designs on the crossbar. The legs have flowers in an oval and the base of the legs each have a flower in an urn. The fire has curved front bars and a grill and there is a top plate that is a replacement. The fire has two fixing lugs, one on either side, under the mantel for fixings to attach the fire to the wall. The feet have small tabs designed to fit into the hearth. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish.

The fire is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected of reclaimed antiques. There are some thin cracks or casting marks under the mantel that can be seen on the front and back face of the fire. The iron has some knocks, casting marks and pitting. The fire brick has some cracks but it is stable. The mantel has some dents and marks. The top plate is a replacement and is slightly smaller than the original and has therefore has a tab screwed into it to keep it fixed in place. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a nice example of Victorian design and it will make a very nice feature for a bedroom.
