A late 19th century French Louis XVI style tulipwood breakfront commode of superb patina (colour) - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
The commode consists of original black fossil marble top of breakfront shape with moulded edge which is in good condition for age, minor chips to edge.
This leads down to three long shaped drawers consisting of tulipwood veneered panels with ebony stringing, the top drawer having inlaid ebony and sycamore design, all with original gilt brass laurel wreath handles, gilt brass escutcheons with central gilt brass mount below.
The commode consists of shaped corners with inlaid ebony and sycamore design, the side panels with inlaid ebony and sycamore design to the top with tulipwood veneered panel below with ebony stringing supported on outswept legs, with gilt brass sabots to the front legs.
This piece is in very good condition for age with some old repairs, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
