About this item
Elegant pair of French Louis XV style side tables decorated with fine floral marquetry
The serpentine shaped tops are inlaid with intricate scrolling foliate designs in contrasting woods, echoed again on the shaped lower tier
Bought from a dealer on Marche Biron at Paris antiques markets
The frieze features a central drawer adorned with delicate inlay and original gilt bronze mounts, while further ormolu mounts decorate the corners and feet
Raised on slender cabriole legs terminating in gilt sabots, these refined tables capture the graceful decorative style associated with late 19th century French furniture inspired by the Louis XV period
