About this item
A 19th century, French copper turbotiere or turbot kettle. This shape of pan was originally for cooking turbot, hence the shape and the name, although this example is now just for decorative use. They are an interesting shape for use for a plant display in the centre of a large table. This one is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it has castellated seams around the base and up the side in two places to either side of one of the handles. The handles are cast in brass and the piece dates from c.1860. It is in very good condition but the tinning to the interior has mostly been polished away so it could not be used for food. The pan measures 51cm. long by 41.2cm wide by 12.8cm. high and overall, including the handles, it is 55.2cm. long by 16.8cm. high.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £40. Western Europe add £15.
