About this item
A huge, 19th century, English copper stockpot made by Benhams. This has traces of a Benhams orb and cross symbol, and a workman's mark, to the base but they are both well worn and difficult to decipher. The stockpot is incredibly heavy as, not only is it very large, but it is also made from a heavy gauge of copper. It has castellated seams around the base and up the side and it has a large brass tap to the front. The handles to either side of the pot and lid are made from bronze and, with this form of handle, the lid also doubles as a saute pan. It dates from c.1860. There is some marking to the copper, and there are a number of small dents to the lid. The tinning, to the interior, is worn and this stockpot is now for decorative use only.
