About this item
A large, and very deep, copper sugar or confit pan. This is made by the French company Letang and it is marked ‘LETANG FILS PARIS 10 RUE VIELLE DU TEMPLE’. Dating from c.1880 it is well made from a very heavy gauge of copper. It has castellated seams around the base and up the side and there is punched ornamentation close to the rim. This is quite unusual for a utility item so with this, along with the size, it was possibly made for use in a confectioners shop, where it would be seen in use. It is in excellent condition. The bowl measures 40cm. diameter by 35cm. deep and overall, including the steel handles, it is 45cm. wide by 40cm. high.
