    About this item

A huge, French copper salmon kettle, cover and drainer. This would be the exaggerating anglers dream item as it really would cook a fish “that—— big”. Both the pan and the cover are stamped with a mark in the shape of a cockerel. This is the mark of the French company Letang and the piece dates from c.1870. It is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it has castellated seams. There are nicely shaped, brass handles to either end of the pan and also to the lid. There is some pitting to the lid and also some scratching and very minor dents to the pan but generally it is in very good condition for a piece of this size and period. The tinning, to the interior, is still in usable condition. Although we refer to these as salmon kettles in France they were also used for cooking pike.

Dimensions: Length of pan 82.5cm. Width of pan 21.5cm. Height of pan 16cm. Overall length including the handles 84.5cm. Overall height including the handle 18.5cm.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £75. Most of Western Europe add £30.
