About this item
A fabulous, Regency, copper samovar. The embossed design work around the rim of this samovar, which is repeated in narrower bands around the socle and finial, is of the finest quality. The shape of the piece is elaborate, with cast brass, scroll shaped handles and a brass tap, and the whole sits on four ball feet. The underside of the lid is stamped 'BEST LONDON MANUFAC' and the brass tap is marked 'PATENT TURNER & CO'. It dates from c.1820 and is in excellent condition. The interior is tinned, and this tinning is still in remarkably good condition, and it is still complete so the piece could be used.
The copper has a fantastic patina which has developed over the last two centuries.
