    About this item

A graduated set of Victorian copper saucepans on a wrought iron stand. This is a very good, decorative set of pans. Most of the bases are not totally flat, which is why we have not had them re-tinned for use, but they are still all good quality. They  are all made from a heavy gauge of copper and have castellated seams. They are a matched set, all having the standard English form of  steel handles, and they date from c.1850 to 1880. There are various makers marks and previous owners marks and I shall give more details of these, referring to the pans in order of largest, being number 1, to the smallest being number 9.

Pan 1: Dimensions: Diameter 31cm. Depth 18cm. Overall length of pan and handle 65cm. Marked “JONES BROS. DOWN ST. W” and engraved with “C.H”. Condition: Pitting to steel handle on lid and minor rippling to lid.

Pan 2: Dimensions: Diameter 26cm. Depth 16cm. Overall length of pan and handle 51cm. Marked “A & N C.S.L”. Condition: Pitting to steel handles  and minor rippling to lid.

Pan 3: Dimensions: Diameter 25cm. Depth 15cm. Overall length of pan and handle 48cm. Engraved with “C.H.H”. Condition: Minor rippling to lid.

Pan 4: Dimensions: Diameter 22cm. Depth 14cm. Overall length of pan and handle 42.5cm. Engraved with “C.H.H”. Condition: Minor rippling to lid.

Pan 5: Dimensions: Diameter 19.5cm. Depth 12.5cm. Overall length of pan and handle 39.5cm. Marked with a letter “H” to the base. Condition: Excellent.

Pan 6: Dimensions: Diameter 16.8cm. Depth 11.4cm. Overall length of pan and handle 33cm. Engraved with “E.C” beneath a crown and above the number ‘5’.  Condition: Very good but there is a manufacturing fault in the steel handle on the pan.

Pan 7: Dimensions: Diameter 14cm. Depth 10.5cm. Overall length of pan and handle 29cm. Unmarked. Condition: Excellent.

Pan 8: Dimensions: Diameter 13cm. Depth 9.5cm. Overall length of pan and handle 25.3cm. Unmarked. Condition: Excellent.

Pan 9: Dimensions: Diameter 11.6cm. Depth 8.6cm. Overall length of pan and handle 22cm. Marked with a small letter ‘G’ to the lid. Condition: Excellent.

The stand, which is also Victorian, is 183 cm. high and has been repainted.
