About this item
A small, 19th century, French copper dish for cooking snails. This is made from a heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1840. Each small domed indentation would have taken a snail, much like those we still use today, and this tray would take 12 snails. The rim is rolled and there is a small steel loop attached for hanging. The piece is in very good condition but it does have a very rustic look so it was probably blacksmith made. This is a very decorative piece and quite a talking point as they are rarely seen in copper.
Dimensions: Diameter 24.2cm. Depth 1.8cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
